Woodworking with Will Myers

Moravian Workbench Class

Will Myers

A few weeks back I taught my first woodworking class at the Woodright’s School in Pittsboro, NC. Sometimes things happen you really never expect; teaching a class at St. Roy’s Cathedral was not something I ever thought I would be doing.

With so many great woodworkers in the world and Roy picks me… go figure?

I am not going to go into great detail on the construction process. The building techniques and materials we used were basically the same as what I wrote about here last year.

We had five students for the five day class. This being my first attempt teaching something like this; I really did not know what to expect.

On the first day we worked on laying out all the joints on the four legs. The first joints we cut were the bridle joints at the top of the legs.

On day two we moved on to the center stretcher mortise and tenon joints. These we did do a little different than the first bench I built.

Learn how. Discover why. Build better.
